The National Wildlife Federation is tracking the death toll of wildlife in the gulf.
As of this writing: 47 dead mammals, 997 dead birds, and 400 dead sea turtles. That’s 1444 dead in total. One hundred and one animals have been cleaned and released (about a 6.7% rescue rate).
